In a shock move, Louis Walsh, the mentor of the group category on this year’s X Factor competition has hinted he is considering changing the line-up of one of his acts.
The judges and producers were hoping that the eight-piece boy band Stereo Kicks, would prove to be a hit with the public and be the next X Factor bestseller. An eight-piece boy band was something new and had not been tried before.
However, they ended up in the bottom two this week and Louis feels that changes might have to be made in order to keep them in the competition.
While discussing Sunday’s results on the companion programme The Xtra Factor with Sarah-Jane Crawford, the former Westlife manager explained that he had issue with Simon Cowell’s assessment that he had failed to connect with the group:
“I didn’t connect with the band – Simon’s the one who put eight in the band. I didn’t put eight in the band.” However, Louis was then careful not to say too much, adding: “I’m not telling you on live TV, someone might be watching!” Sources close to the judge claim he is planning to axe at least two of the boys.
One of the other judges, Cheryl Fernandez-Versini, had also expressed her concerns for the future prospects of Stereo Kicks, commenting that she found them overwhelming.”
Stephanie Nala left the show on Sunday and was joined by Chloe-Jasmine who lost the sing-off to Stereo Kicks.
