Harry Fujiwara, known to fans as the villainous Mr Fuji, passed away on Sunday morning.
Former tag team champion, he was perhaps best known for managing a string of high-profile stars.
Yokozuna, Owen Hart, ‘The British Bulldog’ Davey Boy Smith and Randy Orton’s dad, Bob Orton, were among his charges.
Managing ‘Magnificent’ Don Muraco, he would shoot a series of TV spoofs including Fuji Vice, Fuji Bandito and Fuji Chan.
In a statement on its website honouring the Japanese-American performer, WWE hailed the series as being “ahead of its time”.
“Spoofing successful television shows as they tried to break into Hollywood was the epitome of sports-entertainment,” it said.
Fujiwara, who retired in 1996, was known for stashing small bags of salt which he would throw into his opponent’s eyes.
