A woman who was tending to her horse in a beauty spot has been murdered.
The woman’s body was discovered by her husband just before 5pm on Tuesday afternoon; police have confirmed the victim was 47 year-old Penelope Davis and that they are treating her death as suspicious.
Police were called to the village of Beaulieu in the New Forest in Hampshire on Tuesday. They have reported that the victim was stabbed multiple times and killed while dealing with her horse and have appealed for witnesses.
Leading the investigation is Detective Superintendent Paul Barton. He said: “We are treating the discovery of a woman’s body in Beaulieu as murder. We will be increasing our patrols in the area but I want to remind the community that crimes of this nature are extremely rare.”
