A 23 year-old woman who said of herself “From the age of four I have aspired to become a police officer” was arrested today after the body of a seven year-old schoolgirl was discovered.
Regular churchgoer, Katy-Ann Morris and a 47 year-old man are being questioned by detectives after the body of the little girl was discovered in a Nottingham flat. The pair were arrested on the suspicion of murder. The girl has not yet been named, but she was found inside a flat on the Bestwood Park estate, on the Northern edge of Nottingham.
“Concerns for the child” were raised with the police paid a visit to the flat at 5am on Thursday morning. A neighbour who witnessed the police presence at the flat said that he “saw a man and Kay-Ann being led out by police to a van and the little girl being carried out wrapped in a blanket.” He went on to tell reporters that he thought that Ms Morris had two daughters who were kept under a “strict regime:
“Kay-Ann tried to keep herself to herself. I think she had two little girls. The only time you would see them was on the school run. She was a beautiful, stunning little girl. It is so sad that she has gone. She was very shy, very quiet. It was obvious she was under a strict regime.”
The suspects continue to be held at the police station, while the investigation team await the results of today’s post-mortem.
