Woman Shot Dead By Arsenal Home Ground Shortly Before Match Kick Off

TODAY: A woman has been shot and killed in Holloway, just metres from the Emirates Stadium, the home ground of Arsenal Football Club.

At 9.30 this morning and woman was fuound with severe gunshot wounds in Loraine Road, 400 metres from the Arsenal stadium. Despite the efforts of the emergency services, the woman died at the scene.

A spokesman for the Metropolitan Police said a 38 year-old man had been arrested on suspicion of murder; he has been taken into custody at a North London police station. The spokesman added: “A firearm has been recovered and will be forensically examined. At this early stage it is believed the arrested man and the woman are known to each other.”

The shocking news was released just hours before Arsenal were due to kick off against Burnley in a premiere league game at 3pm. The Emirates Stadium, which is based in Hornsey Road, can hold more than 60,000 people and will be swamped with footie fans this afternoon.
