A female passenger has died after the car she was travelling in crashed into twenty two motors parked on a garage forecourt. A black Vauxhall Vectra left the main road and ploughed into the line of vehicles at the used car and van dealership, causing tens of thousands of pounds damage.
The victim – a woman in her 40s – was pronounced dead at the scene and the male driver was rushed to hospital with serious injuries. Police closed the A390 at Hewas Water, nr St Austell, Cornwall for eight hours as they examined the wreckage at Andrew Toms Cars.
A police spokesman said: “The car was travelling from the St Austell area in the direction of Truro and left the carriageway. The vehicle collided with twenty two parked vehicles which were parked on the garage forecourt of Andrew Toms Cars.” They are particularly interested in anyone who witnessed the manner of driving of a black coloured Vauxhall Vectra in the area.
