Britain is set to enjoy a heatwave this weekend with a welcome return for the Summer weather. Great news for BBQs and trips to the beach, but bad news for hayfever sufferers.
Britain will be bathed in sunshine, enjoying temperatures of 23°C which is well above average for this time of year. And the weather is going to keep getting better as an increase in humidity means that the heatwave will continue into next week, getting hotter as the mercury in parts of the UK will rocket up to 27°C.
A weather forecaster for the Met Office, Mark Wilson, confirmed the good news: “Temperatures will be well above average for the time of year.”
However, it’s not all good news; as well as the toasty temperatures, the increase in blooming times for Britain’s flowers mean that a high pollen count is forecast for next week. Over 18 million Brits suffer from hayfever with symptoms ranging from itchy eyes and sneezing to triggering asthma attacks.
