A new bride was a widow just hours after saying “I do.”
Andrew Bloomfield, 27 and Ruth Driskill, 37, had just tied the knot in front of family and friends and were on their way to celebrate their wedding reception in a private barn when the tragedy happened.
As Andrew and Ruth, their friend, 26 year-old Elizabeth Shelton and their driver Timothy Tebbe were driving along the road in Wyandot County, Ohio, at about 4pm yesterday, their pick-up truck suddenly veered off the road.
The vehicle then hit an embankment, a telegraph pole and then rolled over several times, before finally coming to rest in a corn field. Elizabeth Shelton was killed outright and Andrew died shortly after his arrival in hospital. His widow Ruth and their driver Timothy remain in a critical condition in hospital.
Wyandot County police say they believe none of the vehicle’s occupants was wearing a seatbelt.
Andrew Bloomfield’s last Facebook post said that he was “ready to start a new chapter. I never thought I would find that person to settle down with but I guess I just got lucky. Soon I will be a married man.”
