Twitter user @Sweepyface has spent several years abusing Maddie’s parents on Twitter, using the hashtag #mccann

Sky News journalist Martin Brunt was able to find out who the Twitter user @Sweepyface was and confronted her over her vicious tweets that had been directed at Kate and Gerry McCann as well as their other children.

When confronted, the troll refuses to answer any of Mr Brunt’s blunt questions about her hateful abuse campaign, replying that she is: “entitled to do what I want” and is concerned that the CPS might prosecute her. Tellingly, she does not deny or refute any of Mr Brunt’s allegations.

Not only have trolls accused the McCanns of murdering, abusing or selling their daughter, they have suggested that the McCanns should be tortured or abused themselves.

Mr Brunt’s evidence has now been passed to the Metropolitan Police and the Twitter account @Sweepyface deactivated.
