A YouTube user has uploaded the moment a carefree man risks life and limb by sitting on the very edge of Beachy Head – the cliffs famous for being a suicide hot spot.
The crumbling cliffs on the south coast in East Sussex tower 400 feet over the foaming sea. Despite their reputation for suicide and danger, one man threw caution to the wind for a photograph, but was caught on film by YouTube user Guy Outcast, who uploaded it to his account yesterday.
It is estimated that 20 deaths a year take place at the landmark, with parts of the cliffs crumbling into the sea at any given time.
A volunteer with Eastbourne’s RNLI, Bob Jeffrey said that what the man was doing was “extremely dangerous and extremely ill-advised. Great chunks of those cliffs have fallen off over winter and during the spring. They can go at any minute. It is a silly risk to take for a photograph.”
