The two year-old was with her mother and two other children on the bus in the Smithdown Road area of Liverpool.

As the bus approached the Asda stop, a man in his 60s grabbed the little girl’s arm and told her to come with him, attempting to drag her from the bus with him. The girl’s mother was able to pull her daughter back out of his grasp and the man alighted from the bus at the stop and left the scene.

Police have described the man as in his 60s, approximately 5 foot 8 inches. He is clean shaven with an olive complexion and thinning grey hair. He was dressed in a dark-coloured puffa-type jacket.

Detective Constable John Pender said: “There were a lot of passengers on the bus at the time and we’re appealing to anyone who saw anything to please contact the police.” Any witnesses or anyone with any information is urged to call the police on 101, or alternatively, to contact Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
