Two people have died after separate fires in the UK. A man lost his life and a woman was badly injured after a blaze in a flat above a shop, police said.
Firefighters carried the man out of his burning home and treated him at the scene on Fishponds Road, Bristol on Saturday night – but tragically he could not be saved. The woman was rushed to hospital where she remains in a critical condition from burn injuries. In another incident, an investigation has been launched after a North Wales woman lost her life in a house fire on Saturday afternoon.
Fire engines were called to the blazing home on Pen y Craig, Denbigh, just before 3.30pm. Superintendent Nigel Harrison, of North Wales Police, said: “A female has sadly died and two other people have been treated for smoke inhalation. joint investigation between police and fire has commenced. The next of kin have been informed and our thoughts are with them at this difficult time.”
