Two-year-old British twins have been taken into care in Portugal after their dad allegedly left them alone in a hotel swimming pool while he drank at the bar. Concerned staff at the hotel, named locally as the Adriana Beach Club Resort Hotel, in the Algarve resort of Albufeira, alerted cops over fears for the youngsters’ safety.
The dad, who has not been named but has been described as a 45-year-old widower, was reportedly two-and-a-half times the UK drink-drive limit when police showed up at the resort. It’s not the first time he has been seen “drunk” while on holiday and with his children in his care, according to local reports.
The youngsters were removed from him on Wednesday night and taken to hospital for a check-up; they were then taken to a temporary children’s home in Faro at around 1am yesterday. Their father’s whereabouts today were unclear and it is not known if he was formally arrested after the police were called to the hotel.
