Tony Haygarth, star of Emmerdale, The Bill and Chicken Run, has died at the age of 72. He had appeared in more than 30 films throughout his 45-year acting career and made his name in small-screen offerings including Where The Heart Is and I, Claudius.
Tony had been diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease in 2014. His wife Carole Winter confirmed the sad news, revealing that he passed away on Saturday while at his home in Kent.
Tributes have flooded in for the star, with Sir Tony Robinson calling him “a gentle man, and a fine and subtle actor”. Tony leaves behind two children along with his wife.
