Heartbreaking news for Sir Cliff Richard has been announced.The Living Doll singer’s sister Donna – who is believed to have been in ill health for some time – has died, his spokesperson has confirmed. Sir Cliff is “utterly devastated” at the loss.
The 75-year-old did his best to put his heartache to one side on Saturday night as he took to the stage in Denmark and performed in front of thousands of fans in Vejle. He is expected to fly into London for Donna’s funeral shortly.
It is not known exactly when Donna passed away, though reports claim it was on August 6. It is thought she died from natural causes. Sir Cliff made a emotional visit to see his beloved sister only weeks before she died.
A source close to the Sir Cliff revealed that he had a close relationship with Donna, the eldest of his three sisters, when they were growing up – with the long-time pop star even giving her away on her wedding day: “She used to transcribe lyrics for him off the latest American singles so he and his early group The Drifters could play them.”
