A teenager was found dead hours after his sister was given the go-ahead to travel to America for life-saving cancer treatment. Edward Cox, 19, from Inverurie, Aberdeenshire, was discovered by police at a house in the town on Thursday morning.
His dad Gary had been celebrating the news that daughter Abigail, 21, had been accepted as a patient at the Houston Cancer Centre in Texas. Abigail has been having treatment for Ewing’s sarcoma, a bone cancer, for more than two years, but doctors advised the treatment in Texas would give her the best chance.
Relatives have been fundraising to get the money for the therapy. A relative told the Daily Record : “This is a devastating time. The focus is to go through this period and to make sure Abigail is fit to travel to America.”
Dozens of pals and family friends paid tribute to him on social media yesterday. One wrote: “You were a credit to all your family, you were the most polite young man and had a beautiful smile that everyone will always remember.” Police said the death was being treated as unexplained but was not suspicious.
