A toddler has suffered serious injuries after she was bitten by ‘up to TEN dogs’ as she played in her garden this afternoon. The two-year-old was airlifted to hospital from a home in Cockburn Street, Liverpool, suffering with bite wounds to her face and body.

The “adorable, smiley” young girl, who has been named locally as Ella, is believed to be in a serious condition. The tot was reportedly mauled after the dogs managed to break their way into the garden of the house where she was playing. Emergency crews rushed to the home in Toxeth at around 3.40pm, after receiving reports that a child had been bitten by a dog and a woman had also suffered injuries.

Police arrested a 35-year-old man from Toxeth at the scene and seized five dogs and five puppies from his address. The girl, who one resident described as “very smiley and adorable,” is believed to live beside the 35-year-old man who was arrested under the dangerous dogs act. North West Air Ambulance confirmed a two-year-old girl was taken to Alder Hey Hospital by helicopter at 4.10pm.
