A three year-old boy has died in a tragic accident on a farm.
Colton Lee Clegg was helping his father and uncle to unload animal feed from a truck when a horse kicked a bag of feed from his uncle, Joseph Stephens’s hands.
Little Colton bent over to start collecting the spilt feed, but when his father asked him to move out of the way, he stood up briskly, throwing his arms wide. It is thought that this sudden movement spooked the horse, which lashed out.
Colton was kicked full in the chest, taking the full impact of the horse’s hoof. His father, Christopher Clegg, rushed the boy off the ranch in Texas’s Liberty County and down to a local grocery shop to meet an ambulance. Colton was airlifted to Memorial Hermann in Houston, but died in hospital an hour later.
Heartbroken family members have described Colton as a “little go-getter” and “bright, smart little boy” and nearly $7,000 has been donated to a GoFundMe page set up to help the family pay for the family’s medical bills and the cost of his funeral.
