Thomson Flight To Majorca Forced To Divert To Gatwick After Emergency

A Thompson passenger plane flying from the East Midlands to Majorca was forced to divert to Gatwick after declaring an emergency mid-air. It later landed safely at the airport after transmitting the “7700” emergency code to air traffic controllers.

The plane had left East Midlands Airport at around 4pm today for the popular holiday destination, but it was diverted and landed at Gatwick shortly after.

A spokesperson for Thomson said: “We would like to apologise for the inconvenience caused to customers travelling on flight TOM7118 from East Midlands to Majorca, due to the aircraft needing to divert to Gatwick as a result of a medical emergency.”
