A teenager starved her mum to death after she was sent to a boot camp for internet addicts, it has been reported. The 16-year-old Chinese girl is believed to have wanted revenge for being sent to the brutal camp, where she was beaten and ritualistically humiliated. When she returned home she allegedly tortured her mother and tied her to a chair for a week – according to Chinese news site The Paper .
She is alleged to have sent photos and videos of her mother under duress to her aunt – demanding a ransom. By the time the money came through she is then said to have realised too late her mother was dying and – despite calling an ambulance – she died.
The daughter is also reported to have previously stabbed her father when she dropped out of school – which led to her being sent to the boot camp, one of 250 across China. It claims to have cured 7,000 children of internet addiction over the last two decades.
The girl’s blog post is said to have complained of being tortured “for no reason”. The daughter has now been charged with manslaughter.
