A five-year-old boy sparked concern when his teacher found 30 packets of heroin in his lunchbox at school. The unnamed boy was attending kindergarten on Monday when his teacher saw him playing with a white packet. Assuming it was a sweetie wrapper, the teacher, at the International Academy of Trenton in Trenton, New Jersey, told the boy to put it away.
But when he decided to play with it again, she took it from him – and realised that it was actually heroin, reports The Trentonian . Upon a search of his lunchbox, the teacher says she discovered 29 more packets according to police spokesperson Lieutenant Varn.
Tested for opioids at Capital Health Medical Center in Hopewell, the little boy was found to have no drugs in his system, but an investigation is underway into where the drugs came from.
Lieutenant Varn has not said whether the boy is in care or has been allowed to go back to his parents, and police have not stated if the parents have been interviewed.
