Little Angel Cooper was killed when she popped to the shops for a treat on the way home from a jog with her dad.
The six year-old was just exiting a grocery shop with her father and another friend when she was hit by a stray bullet.
As Angel came out of the 7-Eleven in Kansas City on Friday night with her pack of bubblegum a drive-by killer fired several shots into the car park outside the store.
The six year-old was hit by a bullet just after 7pm; emergency services were on the scene very quickly and Angel was rushed to a local hospital; tragically, she could not be saved and was pronounced dead.
Angel’s mother, Charity Guinn, appealed directly to the gunman:
“She was a sweet little girl and she didn’t deserve this at all. I just want anybody who knows anything to speak up because it’s not fair, I did not deserve to lose my daughter.
“Whoever did this, if you are out there, just please step forward. I don’t know if you have children, or have loved ones, but this is hard. I wouldn’t want anyone in my shoes right now.”
Police officers believe that the shots were either random or that someone else was the intended victim; they have vowed to bring her killer to justice and are urging the public to pass on any information they think might help.
