A young man has been arrested after two people were allegedly stabbed to death on one of Britain’s busiest shopping streets.Dozens of police officers descended on Queen Street in Cardiff, Wales, after the victims’ bodies were found in the early hours of today. Massive cordons have since been put up at the scene, with businesses forced to close and hundreds of shop and office workers sent home.
Further details of the incident are currently unclear, but reports suggest the man and woman were knifed to death in a horror attack. A gruesome photo of the scene, near St David’s Shopping Centre, shows a massive pool of blood on the ground outside a Boots store.
Police say a 20-year-old man from Newport has been arrested and they are currently not looking for anyone else in connection with the incident. An officer at the scene said the cordons will likely remain in place for ‘some time’, with affected shops including Waitrose, Santander bank and Poundland.
One local man, who was heading to work as police flooded the area, claimed the two victims were found at opposite sides of the road. He said: “One of the victims was found outside Boots in a pool of blood – the other was just over the other side of the road outside Matalan. The police then arrived and sealed off the whole street and forensics officers set up a tent over the area.”
