Nurses were horrified when they discovered a new mother biting her newborn baby’s son’s arm and attempting to EAT him.
A nurse raised the alarm and doctors were forced to prise the the mother’s jaws off her child’s arm, by inserting an implement into her mouth to lever her jaws open. The mother was then sedated and child removed to a “secure location.”
The 24 year-old woman, who was named locally as Li Zhenghua, had been discovered heavily pregnant and in the stages of labour on the street in the city of Shenzhen which is in Southern China’s Guangdong Province.
Li was taken to hospital and was delivered of a baby boy and attempts were made to contact her family. However, on her third day in hospital, the brutal cannibalistic attack occurred.
A spokesman for the hospital said: “It was really shocking, the arm was badly damaged and suffered not only heavy bruising but bleeding as a result of the bite.
“Fortunately, doctors managed to insert something to stop her closing her teeth and then levered her jaws apart. After that they gave her a sedative and took the baby to a secure location.”
The hospital reported that Li, who appears to suffer from mental health problems, had been evicted from the family home after she began to exhibit “odd” behaviour. She had been homeless for several weeks before being taken in hospital and authorities are now deciding whether to take her baby into care.
