Queen’s Brian May has cancelled all his shows in December, alongside Kerry Ellis, after a startling admission. The pair were due to perform 11 Candlelight Concerts in the three weeks leading up to Christmas, but announced their indefinite postponement today. Apologising to fans on his official website, Brian revealed he’s fighting “a persistent illness which is destroying my energy and my will”, and doesn’t feel confident to perform.
He wrote: “I’m gutted to have to pull out – I hate letting our loyal fans down. But the advice I have had is that I must take time off to heal, rather than go out on tour again and risk falling down on the job, which would be much worse.”
The Queen star previously battled prostate cancer, but got the all clear in 2014. He said at the time: “All the tests have come back with good reports so most of the ills that were possibilities a couple of weeks ago are now ruled out.”
The pair’s new studio album, titled Anthems II, is scheduled for release in March.
