American singer Colonel Abrams has died at the age of 67. The star, whose 1985 hit Trapped reached number three in the UK, had been living homeless in New York.
Abrams’ 1985 song Trapped reached No3 in the UK; he continued to feature on the US dance and R&B charts into the mid-1990s but was destitute in recent years. His friends had tried to help him last year after it emerged he was homeless.
His death was announced on Facebook by DJ Tony ‘Tune’ Herbert, who said: “Just got word that Colonel Abrams has past away on Thanksgiving … now he is at peace and our condolences go out to his family, and fans world wide, he is no longer suffering or Trapped!!!”
