A burning body has been found in the grounds of a country estate. Police were called to Hughenden Manor, in High Wycombe, after the smouldering remains of a woman were discovered at the National Trust-owned property.
Thames Valley Police reported: “Detectives are investigating the circumstances of the death, which is currently being treated as unexplained.” A 67-year-old neighbour, who did not want to be named, said: “Police came to us on Friday night and asked if we knew anything about a fire.
“We wouldn’t have known anything about the body if it hadn’t been for other people. I’m sad to say that someone’s wife or mother or sister or daughter has come to an end in such a way. It is quite isolated here. It has got to be somebody who knows the area as it is quite off the beaten track.”
Det Insp Joe Banfi eld from Buckinghamshire CID said: “This area is popular with dog walkers and so I would urge anyone who saw anything which could assist the investigation to speak to officers.”
