The action on Corrie was more exciting off-stage than on last night, as one of the actors suffered a collapse and had to be rushed, bleeding, to hospital.
Last night’s shoot involved Bruno Langley’s character Todd Grimshaw; in the scene, Todd was supposed to be attacked by a group of thugs, but one of his attackers ended up in hospital.
One of the extras playing the thugs collapsed, falling face-first onto the pavement. The shaven-headed extra was loaded into an ambulance with blood streaming from his face. A stand-in allowed the filming to continue.
A spokeswoman for the popular soap said: “The actor in question sustained a minor injury when he fell during filming. He was taken to hospital as a precaution but he is fine and well.”
The scenes filmed last night form part of a tough storyline for Todd, as he is slowly ostracised by his family who feel he is partly to blame for Tyrone Dobbs’s accident. Speaking about his character, Bruno said: “He feels like the black sheep of the family and that’s not a good feeling. He feels bad – he’s at his lowest ebb. The one thing that’s he always been able to count on is his mum sticking by him and backing him up.
“There’s one line where Eileen says ‘I wash my hands of you’ and she’s never said that to Todd before. He’s always been the golden boy and he’s not anymore. He’s now been demoted.”
