Terrified customers in Borough Market fought off the assailants as a van ploughed into pedestrians on London Bridge.
Terrified diners have described how they fought off a terrorist who stormed a London restaurant to stab innocent victims.
It came as an armed thug with a foot-long blade went on the rampage in busy Borough Market in central London.
At around the same time a van ploughed into pedestrians on London Bridge, leaving several dead.
Terrified customers in Borough Market armed themselves with chairs and glasses to fight off the assailants in the incident.
One witness told the Sun Online : “There were people throwing chairs and glasses outside and I thought it might just be a fight. Then I realised it was more than that, people were running.
“Next thing we know, they’re in our restaurant. People were screaming ‘they’ve got knives’.”
Photos show victims in bloodied clothing.
The Met Police said: “Officers have then responded to reports of stabbings in #BoroughMarket. Armed officers responded and shots have been fired.”
There is currently confusion over the exact names of the establishment or establishments affected in London Bridge, and a huge cordon remains in place.
