At least two people have died after a cargo plane crashed close to an airport in the US. The plane came off the runway at Yeager Airport in Charleston, West Virginia, and over a hillside into a wooded area at around 7am this morning.
Officials said a Mountaineer Cargo plane ran off the runway after approaching runway 23 at the airport. The company contracts for UPS. Kanawha County Ambulance confirmed two fatalities after reports of heavy entrapment emerged. There were several people on board the plane, but the full extent of fatalities and injuries has not yet been disclosed.
The airport is operating under a Level 3, which is the highest emergency level and people are being warned to avoid the area.
