Horrified parents have been warned after two kidnap bids were reported in the same Lancashire town within a week. Just days after a schoolgirl, nine, was grabbed around the neck as she played, a second child was seized by the arm in a Skelmersdale park.
The young girl was playing on her bike close to the Enstone Estate when she was approached from behind and grabbed, police told the Southport Visiter. She managed to escape the attack at about 6.20pm on July 9 and ran home to her parents. The youngster described her attacker as tall, thin and dressed in black with his face covered.
On July 15 a second child was grabbed while playing in Banksbarn Park. The youngster said a man came out of the woods and seized its arm. The child screamed to alert friends causing the suspect to flee in a car. Parents have been warned to watch their kids in light of the terrifying events. Police said: “Officers would remind parents to always be aware of your child’s whereabouts and advise them to stay with friends and not to talk to strangers.”
