A 26 year-old woman was stabbed to death and a six year-old child left injured after a shocking attack.
Police detectives in East London have now launched a murder investigation following the stabbing, which happened in Walthamstow on Monday.
The 26 year-old woman was discovered at her home in Hatherley Road in Walthamstow with severe stab wounds to her neck and arm. She was rushed to hospital, but despite efforts of medical teams, she died of her injuries yesterday afternoon.
A six year-old child was injured in the incident, but the wounds were minor; they were treated at the scene and the child did not need hospital treatment. The sex of the child, or the relationship to the dead woman has not been released by police.
Detective Chief Inspector Glen Lloyd of the Metropolitan Police said: “We are now investigating the murder of a young woman. While we continue to investigate the motive to this incident we believe that the suspect and the victim were known to each other.
“People living and working nearby may have seen something that could be of vital importance to investigators. I would urge anyone with information to contact officers.”
