Detective Inspector Nick Connaughton, of Blackpool CID who is heading up the murder investigation said: “This is a tragic situation where a young girl has lost her fight for life. We are now treating this sad death as suspicious and are investigating just how the child came into difficulties in the pool.”
A spokesman for the Dalmeny Hotel, which overlooks the beach at St Annes and has approximately 100 rooms, declined to comment on the girl’s death or the circumstances surrounding it.
