A mum and her two young children have died in a horror crash during their summer holiday in Devon. The woman’s husband reportedly saw the crash as he travelled in a car in front. The family were driving towards Barnstaple in North Devon when their car crashed with a lorry at 8.25am.
They were tragically pronounced dead after three ambulances, five rapid response vehicles and the air ambulance rushed to the scene on the A361 North Devon Link Road. The man, his wife and his step-children, were believed to be on holiday in Devon from elsewhere in England.
Experienced police officers said it was one of the most shocking crashes they had seen – and the second in the same spot within just 48 hours. Inspector Richard McLellan revealed that two other people died in a crash on Sunday, just a mile from the scene, when a vehicle crossed the white lines of the road and collided with a car towing a trailer. That crash left two people dead and another person in a very poorly condition in hospital.
