A mum still dealing with the grief of losing her 10-year-old daughter to murder is facing more heartache after a second daughter was killed last week, almost 18 years on from the first tragedy. Cheri West told Fox: “I’m lost, really. Two daughters to murder. I didn’t think I would ever have to go through this again, I really didn’t … I’ve lost my youngest and now my oldest.”
Cheri received a phone call from the police and was told a sheriff would visit her to ‘explain what was going on.’ “It didn’t even cross my mind about a murder,” she told Fox , “He said: ‘I’m sorry to tell you but your daughter has been murdered.” The mum explained how her first words were: “No, it can’t be true. It just can’t be true.”
Cheri West’s daughter, Pamela Butler, was killed in 1999 at the age of 10 after being kidnapped while roller-skating outside her home. West, from Kansas, said when Pamela was taken, her older sister Casey chased the van down the street “screaming”. Last Wednesday, mum-of-four Casey Eaton was also killed after being shot in a vehicle outside her home at the age of 34, just yards away from a playground named in honour of her little sister.
