A young mother and her eight-year-old daughter were killed after being stabbed 72 times by a ‘monster’ during a sustained attack at their home. Jolanta Lubiene, 27, and daughter Enrika Lubyte were found dead in the rented home they shared in Killorglin, Co Kerry on June 17, 2013, by a friend who discovered the mum’s body lying on the floor. Blood was found on the wall and stairs, and the friend raised the alarm.

An inquest heard yesterday that a woman was brutally killed after receiving 61 stab wounds while her eight-year-old daughter died after being stabbed 11 times during an attack at their home. The inquest returned verdicts of unlawful killing in both cases.

Ms Lubiene’s sister, Kristina Kuleviciene said the inquests into the deaths of her sister and niece had brought finality for the family. Asked if her opinion of the man convicted of their murder had changed, she said: “He is still a monster.”  Lithuanian national Aurimas Andruska is serving two concurrent life sentences for the murders on a date between June 15 and 17, 2013.
