A woman killed herself after rowing with her husband for keeping her awake as he and his friends watched boxer Anthony Joshua on TV. Felicity Hyde, 38, went to bed before the boxer’s world title victory over Wladimir Klitschko. But she stormed downstairs and accused husband Chris and his pals of “disrespecting her house”.
The pals left but the next day the couple had a “heated discussion”. Recruitment consultant Chris told her: “I think at my age I shouldn’t have to put up with this behaviour. You need to change.” Felicity, a former travel company boss, replied: “If you want to divorce me I want a massive settlement.” Chris, 46, said he thought it was a “throwaway comment” and they were generally “happy”, but spent the night on the sofa.
While he was out with their three children the next day his wife hanged herself in the garage of their home in Blackpool. He told an inquest in the town their fall out was “not patched up”. But he said there was “nothing at all that could have indicated that she was going to kill herself or self-harm.
