A Miss World contestant who disappeared days before she was due to fly to London for this year’s Miss World competition has been found dead.
The bodies of Miss Honduras, 19 year-old Maria Jose Alvarado and her sister 23 year-old Sofia Trinidad, 23, were found today, several days after they vanished.
Maria has recently been crownded Miss Honduras, beating 18 other contestants. Maria disappeared after she and her sister went to a friend’s part on Thursday. Police have arrested four people, including Sofia’s boyfirend, Plutarco Antonio Ruiz.
The bodies of the sisters were discovered in village of Cablotales which is close to the Aguagua River.
Maria was due to fly to London in time for the start of the Miss World events tomorrow. 120 contenstants are competing for the coveted title’ the build up culminates in a grand final, which will be held at ExCel London on 14th December.
Jose Coello, the Chief of Police, originally said that the pair’s disappearance was not being treated as a crime. However, it was then discovered that the last four people to see the sisters alive have been arrested and questioned. In response, Mr Coello said: “Four people are under arrest. They include the owner of the party venue and Sofia Trinidad’s boyfriend. They are being investigated.”
