A man has died after being hit by a Central line Tube train at a north east London station. Police, paramedics and fire crews were scrambled to Woodford station shortly before 11am yesterday.
Despite their efforts, the man was pronounced dead at the scene. Footage from the station showed emergency service vehicles lining the street outside. The incident is not being treated as suspicious, police have said.
There was no service between Leytonstone and Loughton and between Hainault and Woodford while police dealt with the incident on the eastbound platform. A British Transport Police spokesman said: “A man has sadly died after he was struck by an eastbound Central Line train at Woodford station … work is now underway to identify the man and inform his family.”
