Fighting back tears, the husband of the late Lynda Bellingham described how she died in his arms.
Lynda Bellingham OBE, beloved “Oxo Mum” and star of All Creatures Great And Small and Loose Women died in her husband’s arms yesterday after stopping treatment for cancer in August. She had been diagnosed with stage-four colon cancer in June 2013.
Lynda had made her funeral arrangements before death; her funeral will be in Somerset and she will be laid to rest not far from her father. This will be followed by a big party for family and friends in London.
Michael Pattmore, Lynda’s husband said: “! just want her to be remembered as an actress more than anything – not as a celebrity or one of the Loose Women. She started her career as an actress and never thought of herself as a celebrity. She’s always been an actress.
Choked with emotion, Mr Pattmore added: “I can tell you now that the words on her gravestone will be ‘The curtain went up on May 31 1948, and the final curtain went down on October 19 2014’.”
