A child has died after being hit by car outside a hotel in Salford. A large number of police vehicles and several ambulances rushed to the scene at the Ibis Hotel on Salford Quays at around 10pm on Thursday night. One witness told the Manchester Evening News of seeing a woman “with blood on her”. Others told of hearing “horrific” and “blood-curdling” screams.
Greater Manchester Police confirmed they responded to reports of a child involved in a traffic collision and that sadly a boy has died. Armed officers were also in attendance. Crash scene investigators were seen examining a maroon-coloured car almost immediately outside the hotel’s rear entrance.
Lindsay Avery wrote online: “I heard the screams and saw people in panic, I called an ambulance because it seemed someone had been hit by a car.” I couldn’t actually see anything though, just some very distressed people.” Another witness reported that: “The screams were blood curdling!”
