World-famous trance DJ Robert Miles has died aged 47. The legendary DJ and producer – best known for hit song Children – passed away after suffering a mystery illness, DJ Mag Italia reports.

Longtime friend Joe T Vannelli said: “The tragic news of the death of a very talented artist of our time, makes me incredulous and upset. I will miss the fights, brawls, criticism, judgements but especially your talent in finding sounds and melodies unparalleled.”

Miles is thought to have been in dance music capital Ibiza, Spain, where he hosted a radio show, when he died. The Italian’s iconic hit Children made number one in 12 countries after its release in 1995. It also reached the top five in “every European country with a singles chart”. Miles won the Brit Award for Best International Male Newcomer in 1997 off the back of the song’s fame. Children has remained a club classic for DJs across the globe.
