Judy Finnigan Slammed For Defending Rapist Ched Evans – Rape “Not Violent”

The panel were discussing the furore surrounding convicted rapist Ched Evans who was a professional footballer before his prison sentence. 23 year-old Evans was jailed in 2012 for five years but is expected to be released next week when he will have served under half of his sentence. Ms Finnigan argued that Evans had served his time and should be allowed back on the pitch and said that his rape of a teenager was “not physically violent.”

Ms Finnigan argued: “He’s served his time. The rape and I am not, please, by any means minimising any kind of rape – but the rape was not violent. He didn’t cause any bodily harm to the person.

“It was unpleasant, in a hotel room, I believe, and she was – she had far too much to drink. And you know, that is reprehensible, but he has been convicted and he has served his time. Now when he comes out, what are we supposed to do? Just actually refuse to let him do his job? Again, even though he has already been punished?”

Twitter exploded with anti-Finnigan tirades:

“Did Judy just justify rape on loose women? SICK! It’s ALWAYS wrong no matter what the circumstances are!! #LooseWomen” commented one angry tweet.

Another furious user wrote: “Can’t believe that Judy has just said on Loose Women it wasn’t a bad rape, ANY rape is bad & wrong! Disgusting.”
