Adorable intensive care unit babies are celebrating their first Hallowe’en in cute fashion.Families in neonatal intensive care units may spend weeks or months in a sterile hospital during what can be an emotional period. But a charity supporting babies delivered through troubled births has provided the cute costumes for these tots ahead of October 31.
Volunteers from March of Dimes made the costumes themselves for new babies at at Saint Luke’s Hospital, Kansas City, USA. Families of the babies also received a “trick or treat, smell my feet” card with their baby’s footprint. The pack also include a hand-crocheted pumpkin filled with treats and a Hallowe’en book. The March of Dimes Foundation believes Hallowe’en is a special time for families and this was the first time for these babies. Photographer Emmalee Schaumburg said: “March of Dimes volunteers and the staff at St. Luke Hospital made little costumes for the NICU babies. I was honoured to be one of the volunteers to photograph them.”
