A fire has broken out at a block of flats in West London. The London Fire Brigade said on their Twitter account this evening: “Around 60 firefighters are currently tackling a fire in a house converted into flats in Kensington Gardens Square in #Bayswater. More soon.”
Huge plumes of thick black smoke can be seen billowing out of the windows. London Fire Brigade said they were called at 6.50pm and eight fire engines and 58 firefighters are tackling the blaze. They are advising that people keep clear of the area but by 8.30pm they said they were working hard to get the fire under control.
The Fire Brigade also shared a picture of the blackened out flat from the outside and are still on the scene tackling the fire, which has affected two flats in the six-storey building. The cause of the fire is not known at this stage, the fire brigade said. The fire is behind Whitley’s shopping centre in Bayswater.
