Britain is set to bask in another week of spring sunshine with temperatures higher than in the south of France. Balmy southerly winds will sweep in from the Atlantic until next weekend, with temperatures expected to get close to 20C in the coming days.
Thermometers could reach 19C in the south tomorrow, leaving Monte Carlo’s 16C forecast in the shade. The Met Office’s long-term forecasts for Easter look promising, with warm sunshine and largely clear skies expected until the middle of the month. The sunny forecasts have sent bookies into a frenzy, with Ladbrokes slashing the odds on an Easter weather record from 6-1 to 4-1 with 2-1 odds on hitting 20C next week.
Exacta Weather forecaster James Madden said: “High pressure will dominate proceedings through this week bringing warm weather with prolonged periods of sunshine. We are likely to see some temperature fluctuations to some fresher days at times, but all in all, temperatures should stay at above-average.”
