A British man has been arrested after mowing down pedestrians, including a seven-week-old baby, in the Costa del Sol holiday resort of Puerto Banus before smashing into several cars during a police chase.
At least three people were injured near the resort’s famous Ocean Club. The man fled the scene, colliding with several vehicles on a nearby road leading into neighbouring Marbella known as the Golden Mile.
Initial fears the incident was terrorism-related were ruled out by police who said the driver had been drunk. Police were last night investigating whether he deliberately mounted the pavement and drove down a pedestrian area leading to the club after getting into his car.
