An architect has died after falling 48 floors from a Manhattan skyscraper as he knelt to take measurements.Tragic Bruno Travalja, from New Jersey, fell from the roof of the building in New York on Thursday afternoon. The married dad-of-three was working on the high-rise building and had knelt down to take measurements before falling to his death.
He was completing a survey of the building and had been wearing a security harness, but it was not tied off at the time. Bruno lost his footing as he stood up and fell over the top of an 18-inch security barrier, authorities said. The 52-year-old was pronounced dead at the scene.
The Department of Buildings placed a Stop Work Order on the skyscraper on Thursday, indicating a worker had fallen off the top and landed on the pavement below. NYPD and the Department of Buildings are now investigating the heartbreaking fall.
Bruno’s 16-year-old daughter paid tribute to her dad, saying: “He loved working in the field, he was never scared.” She added: “He loved being up there.”
