A 2 year-old girl was killed in an Asda car park as her parents looked on in horror.

The little girl was knocked down and killed by a car in the car park of a branch of Asda in Wembley in North-East London.

The toddler was standing with her mother at approximately 8.40pm on Thursday. The emergency services were quickly on the scene and tried to save the life of the little girl; she was taken to hospital, but died later that evening. A post-mortem to ascertain the exact cause of death will be carried out shortly.

One witness said: “I saw the paramedics attending the small child, who was lying on the ground wrapped in blankets. Her mother was hysterical and crying. The father had to be calmed by police.”

The Metropolitan Police said that the driver of the car, a black Volkswagen estate has not been arrested and are appealing for witnesses.
