Four people have died and 12 others injured after a horror eight-vehicle pile-up on the A34.Four lorries and four cars were involved in the smash on the A34 northbound between Chieveley and West Iisley in Berkshire.
South Central Ambulance Service said six ambulance crews as well as a hazardous area response team, as well as an air ambulance, were sent to the scene. The road is currently closed following the crash at 5.10pm. A man has been arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving, the BBC reports.
Insp Andy Storey said: “All motorists should avoid the area, use alternative routes and await further updates before attempting to travel on this route. We appreciate motorists’ patience while we deal with this incident.”
One man was taken to the John Radcliffe Hospital by air ambulance with life-threatening injuries. Two more were taken to the Royal Berkshire Hospital with minor injuries.
